

Cahal J. Lyden, Sr., 71, of East Windsor, CT, formerly of Danbury, died Wednesday night at Hartford Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Clifden, County Galway, Ireland on Oct. 22, 1940, he was a son of the late Patrick and Anna McKenna Lyden.
He immigrated to the US in 1945 and settled in Mount Vernon, NY. Cahal attended Mount Vernon schools and served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1961. He was employed with the NMDU in New York City for over 25 years, retiring in 1998. Cahal was a former member of the New Fairfield Lions Club and coached New Fairfield Little League Baseball.
Survivors include his wife: Irene Nekola Lyden of Newport, NC. His sons: Kevin and his wife, Marybeth, of Danbury, Sean and his wife, Sue, of New Fairfield, Cahal, Jr. and his wife, Anna, of Raleigh, NC. His stepson: Tim Maguire and his wife, Heidi, of Dayton, NV. His stepdaughter: Laurie Lyden of North Carolina. His brother: James Lyden of Winter Park, FL. His grandchildren: Christa, Kevin, Jr., Rebecca, Emma, Jack, Gregory and Tim, Jr & great-grandchild Cadence. He was predeceased by his brother, Jack P. Lyden and his sister, Maureen C. Lyden.
Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday at 2:30pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, with Deacon William Murphy officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00pm until 2:30pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cahal’s memory may be made to Danbury Youth Baseball, 3 Memorial Dr., Danbury, CT 06810 or to the Alzheimer’s Association of CT, Suite 100, Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
