On behalf of the Dunkley, and Thelwell families, i would like to say to Glena and family, thank you for sharing Aunt Carmen with us. Truly it is amazing how generation of families can become intertwined, without conscious intervention. Such was the case of Aunt Carmen. We grew up hearing our Aunts reminiscing about "Carmen" and some twenty years later to find out that our dear friend Glena's Aunt Carmen, was the Carmen of which my family held in dear esteem. She will be missed .

My sincere condolences to Carmen’s family.I have known Carmen  since childhood and was fortunate to  have worked  along side her in the  lab at the citrus company in May Pen. What a beautiful, graceful and gentle lady! She was the kindest, caring mentor anyone could have asked  for and as a result I maintained contact with her until the very end even though we were miles apart.  Special thanks to those who  took special care of her and  loved her. She will be truly missed.

My Aunt Carmen
I have so many fond memories of Aunt Carmen, because she did so much for me, when  I migrated with my family to the US in 1978.
I was the only family member to live with Aunt Carmen and Aunt Hazel in Queens . Both of them showered me with love and kindness. Aunt Carmen was without doubt  the hardest working woman that I have ever seen. When I got my first job working in Manhattan, Aunt Carmen would religiously make me a sandwich each morning to take to work. Aside from this, Aunt Carmen was the first practitioner of multi tasking and would often be doing the laundry while gardening and taking care of other household chores. Later on she would start preparing dinner and  always had to be busy. Probably the most important thing about her is that she always had a kind word and I can never recall ever seeing her in an angry mood. Whenever I spoke to her in the recent past, she would be more concerned about me than about herself. I am going to miss her a lot and may she RIP.

To Aunt Carmen's family.

I knew your aunt through my cousin Glena, ever since Aunt Carmen lived in Queens. Although I only had the chance to visit her when I travelled to Danbury from home in England, it was a regular visit that I looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed. She really was a very special person, and after visiting her I always came away feeling peaceful and relaxed. 
The massive changes  in the world she must have witnessed during her time here never seemed to adversely affect her. She was such a lovely person. 

I wish her family and friends comfort at this sad time. We have all lost a very dear person.

Aunt Carmen,  you will always be remembered.  You and  Aunt Hazel were  the dynamic duo.   You always seemed to have a genuine care for everyone . During college a lot of weekends I would drive from NJ to NY just to be spoiled by you both and  to  be around family. In my eyes you'll always be a legend. R.I.P

Carmen Jolly was an extraordinary woman.  Dignified, soft spoken, kind and loving;  she loved people and especially her extended family.  There are so many qualities I admired about Carmen, but her gardening skills and cooking skills stand out for sure.  I never saw a more beautiful cared for yard and gardens than when I visited her home in Queens, N. Y.  Amazing, gorgeous, perfect are the three adjectives that come to mind immediately.  Her flowers and walkways were breathtaking and reflected the love and care she provided, not only for her gardens, but for her family as well.  Carmen Jolly was well loved.  I loved her stories of her life and adventures.....she amazed me with every tale.  I shall miss her.  With love to her beloved family and friends, Marjorie Byiteck-Salem
