Catherine M. Mahoney Kane

Catherine 'Katie' Mahoney Kane, 97, of Fairfield, formerly of Danbury and Stratford, passed away peacefully after a very long and happy life on July 1, 2013. Born in Danbury as the second of six children of Charles T Mahoney and Elsie Brennan Mahoney, she was a resident of Connecticut for her entire life. Katie was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John Edward Kane, who died in 1997.

Katie is survived by her four children: Alice (Candy) Rice and her husband James E Rice of Fairfield, John E Kane, Jr and his wife Margaret Kane of Vienna, VA, Susan M Kane of Morgan Hill, CA, and Mark M Kane and his wife, Cindy Kane of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren: Robin Kane, Josh Kane and Casey Kane Hansen of VA, Scott Chicotka of New York, NY, Brett Chicotka of Chicago, IL, and Catherine Chicotka of San Jose, CA; and three great-grandchildren: Summer Kane, and Austin John (AJ) Kane of Sterling, VA, and Camden Hansen of Sterling, VA. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Nobes of Danbury, and was predeceased by her siblings Mary Mullaney, Annette Knee, Alice Ryan, and Charles Mahoney.

A loving wife and a caring mother, she will be missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends may call on Friday, July 5th between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 5th at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Ridgefield. Entombment will follow at St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
