Ann was born on June 8, 1918, in Mamaroneck, New York, a daughter of Gaetano and Bernarda (Germani) Germano and was a graduate of Mamaroneck High School. She was the dear sister of Joseph Germano of Mamaroneck and the late Carmelo Germano, Angelica Fiorito, Frances Quadagno and Minnie Grossi.
She married Dominick Pizzuti on October 27, 1940. They settled in his hometown of Mt. Vernon, New York, and resided there until 1967 when they moved to Danbury. Ann and Dominick moved to Brooksville, Florida, in 1974, where she received certifications as a teacher’s aide and nurse’s aide. After Dominick’s death in 1978, Ann moved back to Danbury and was very active with the Cellmates band. It was there that she met her second husband, Ed Enke, and they married in 1986. They entertained for many years at Danbury’s nursing homes and were volunteers at the Daily Bread Pantry. Ann continued to entertain after Ed’s death in 1997. She was also a member of the Germantown Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, a part-time cafeteria worker at Danbury High School and a teacher’s aide for three years in the CEATA program.
Ann is survived by her children, Marianne Corbo of Sandy Hook, Phyllis D’Ettore of New Fairfield, Judith (Charles) Reisel of Hawley, Pennsylvania, and Martin (Gordon) Pizzuti of Pocono Lake, Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her sons, Raymond Pizzuti and Thomas Pizzuti. She had six cherished grandchildren—Joseph Corbo of Chicago, Illinois, Raymond (Elaine) Corbo of Newtown, Jennifer (Jon) Del Pozo of Newtown, E. J. (Amy) D’Ettore of Wolcott, Michael (Heidi) D’Ettore of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Dale (Jazly) Pizzuti of West Palm Beach, Florida. She also leaves behind 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family, but we are grateful that she lived a long, full and active life, and the memories she left us will live on.
Ann loved to dance, sing, play tennis and write stories, plays and poems. She leaves a book of poetry dedicated to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her family would like to acknowledge the wonderful health care workers and staff at Glen Hill for their compassionate and loving care of Ann while she was a resident.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter's Church, 121 Main Street, Danbury. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Ann’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
