Daniel P. Heron Sr. of Danbury, Connecticut died peacefully on December 14, 2020 at Regional Hospice, in Danbury. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jean A. (Behari) Heron, on November 16, 2020.
Dan was born on May 2, 1938, the son of the late Patrick and Catherine (Lagan) Heron. He graduated from Danbury High School and Western Connecticut State College and lived in Danbury all of his life. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He wore many hats during his working career, often more than one at a time – grocery store clerk, laborer, bartender, purchasing agent, furniture salesman, milk truck and school bus driver to name a few. He was retired from Laidlaw Transit Inc. and Dayton Rogers Manufacturing Company. He was a lifelong parishioner at St. Peter Church in Danbury.
Dan married his high school sweetheart Jean, and family was the focus of his life. He is survived by seven sons, Daniel Jr. and Laurie of Danbury, Michael and Debra of Wichita, Kansas, Steven and Sheri of Wichita, Kansas, James of Danbury, Leo of Danbury, Peter and Tracy of Bethel and Patrick and Margie of Danbury. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sister, Kathleen Jannuzzi of New Fairfield along with numerous in laws, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Dan was predeceased by his siblings Margaret (Peggy) Heron, Patrick Heron and Anne Casagrande.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date. Contributions in his memory can be made to Regional Hospice, St. Peter Church in Danbury or to your favorite charity.
