She was born in the town of Hess-Lichtenau, Germany on June 29 1934.
Edie did factory work at the age of 14, helping to support her family; and in later years was an Au Pair for an American family who was stationed in Germany.
She met her husband to be Richard Hambidge, who was stationed in Germany while in the Air Force. They were married on September 4, 1958 in Bremerhaven, Germany and came back to the States and settled in Danbury.
She worked in Danbury Hospital for 23 years and was in Transportation, Pediatrics and was a Unit secretary on 10 West.
Edie had a love of gardening and travelled back to Germany numerous times to visit her family. Her family and friends were always most important to her.
Besides her husband, Richard, of 63 years, she was predeceased by her parents, Karl and Gertrud Bauer; her brother, Leonard and Inge Bauer, of Germany.
She is sadly missed by her son, Richard Hambidge, Jr. of Danbury; and daughter, Debra and son-in-law, Carl Maciejewski of New Milford. Also surviving is a niece, Claudia Beer, of Germany.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00pm on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury, CT.
Friends will be received from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
