Edward S. Carola died peacefully at his home on October 3, 2019. Ed was a Marine who served during WWII along with his identical twin brother Tom and his older brother Charles, who died from wounds sustained at Iwo Jima. Ed, a former NYC employee, was a family man and married for sixty five years to Vera (Portante), who predeceased him in 2013.
Ed is survived by his children, Edward J. Carola and his wife Betsy of New Milford, and Judy Veripapa of Danbury. Adored by his grandchildren, Ed leaves behind Pam and her husband Bob, Chris and his wife Erica, Tom and his wife Keryn, and Michael, and great grandchildren, Alexander, Maxwell, Maya, Ethan, as well as several nieces and nephews, and friends.
Calling hours will be at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Tuesday October 8th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield on Wednesday October 9th at 10:30am. Burial with military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield.
