Born in Marquette, MI, he was a son of the late Eugene John and Betty Jane (née Madel) LaVigne.
Survivors include his loving family; sons: Ben and Aaron LaVigne; step-sons: Jenson and Neil Olmstead. His siblings: Bill, Ed and Candy LaVigne.
