Francis “Frank” Anthony Filardo, Jr., 79, of 10 Heron View Road, New Fairfield, CT passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022 at his home in New Fairfield surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Andrea (Ranere) Filardo.
Frank was born in New York, NY, the son of the late Francis A., Sr. and Lucille Zazzarino Filardo. He attended Mount Saint Michael Academy followed by RCA Institute receiving his Associates degree.
Frank spent 34 years in Thornwood, NY, where he raised his family and tended his garden. He spent years as president of the football club for the Westlake High School Wildcats also videoing and announcing the play by play. His son's friends often spent time at their Westchester Avenue home where Big F freely shared advice, whether they liked it or not.
He developed life-long friendships through his years in Thornwood. With Andrea and his friends, they traveled the world - Italy, Aruba, Puerto Rico, Cruises, etc., and not to forget the midnight trips to Atlantic City.
After their time in Thornwood, Frank and Andrea relocated to New Fairfield, CT to be closer to their grandchildren. Through the years, he enjoyed his grandchildren’s sporting events, and kept active landscaping his son’s yard and people would often see Big F walking around town. His generous nature covered yearly trips to LBI, where the beach, the sticky buns, the puzzles, Barry’s do me a flavor and fishing trips were highlights for all. He loved the family traditions like pizza rustica and struffoli with lots of sprinkles because you can never have too many.
This past July, Frank and Andrea realized a life long dream of bringing their entire family to Aruba where they spent a week having fun in the sun together.
From a career perspective, Frank worked as a Region Director at Xerox Corporation followed by Océ Corporation. After retiring, he kept busy as a limo driver all hours of the day and night. He was a hard working man who was admired by many who worked with him through the years. Here too, the friendships he made continued throughout his life.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, survivors include his sons, Francis Anthony, III and his wife Maureen and Anthony Attilio and his wife Joanne. His grandchildren: Nicholas Anthony and Samantha Rose.
Frank was predeceased by his infant son Anthony, his parents Francis A., Sr. and Lucille Filardo and by a sister, Marie Olszewski.
