F. Richard “Dick” O’Hara, affectionately known to his many friends as “Numbers”. Mr. O’Hara passed away peacefully Saturday, October 12th in his Danbury home. He was born in Danbury on September, 26, 1939. He attended St. Peter’s school and graduated from Danbury High School in the “famous” class of 1957. This was a fact that gave him much pride. His continuous friendship with his classmates was a great source of happiness for him.
After graduating from UCONN in 1961, he worked as an accountant for Leo Allen for years before joining Fairfield Processing’s business office; a position he held for over 30 years.
He had a great passion for British history. He also had an affinity for local history. This was especially true of Danbury and New Milford, which was his mother’s birthplace.
He was a generous man with his family and friends alike. He had impeccable style and a quick wit to match. He always brought smiles to the faces of his friends and family. His ability to keep those around him entertained and comfortable with his humor and wit will be sorely missed by those who loved him.
Dick was a Danbury legend. His many friends and family will miss him. Those who knew and loved him were lucky to have had so many wonderful memories. His mother Mary O’Hara, father, Francis O’Hara and his sister, Kathleen O’Hara Hunt, predeceased him. His nephews and several cousins survive Richard.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Green Funeral Home 57 Main St., Danbury on Tuesday, October 22nd from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22nd at St. Peter’s Church 104 Main St. Danbury.
