
Fred, a lifetime resident of Danbury was born son of the late Giovanni and Annuziata Montesi. He was one of thirteen children. He was a graduate of St. Peter School and attended Danbury High School. He worked for 41 years for the Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, holding many positions over the years. He retired in June of 1993 and worked another twenty years in various retail businesses. Fred served in the 2nd Division of the Marine Corps of Camp LeJune, NC, from 1947 to 1950, spending 18 months on various Naval ships on Goodwill Tours to the Mediterranean, representing the Corps and the USA. His favorite countries were Italy, France, Greece and Turkey. In 1950 the Korean War broke out and Fred was recalled into the service and served until 1951.
In addition to his sons, Gary and Marty, he is survived by two sisters Margaret Pambianchi and Dot Osnoe. He was predeceased by his late wife Nancy (Manochi) Montesi, seven brothers: Peter, Jerry, Louis, Bill, Jimmy, Tom and Wilson and three sisters: Elizabeth, Mary and Emma.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Interment will be private. Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of the arrangements.
