Ida A. Lownds

Ida was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late Henry and Ida Congdon Augusiewicz. She attended Danbury Schools and was a 1959 graduate of Danbury High School, where she was cheerleader captain.

Ida worked for many years with her husband at Dave’s Cleaners in Brookfield. She was most recently in sales in the Drapery Department of J. C. Penny in Danbury, retiring in 2007 after over 20 years.

She enjoyed laughing with family and friends, gardening, bird watching and watching TV. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, especially when she would solve the puzzle before her husband. Ida will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Besides her husband of 54 years, survivors include her children: Beverly Heinlein and her husband, Timothy, of New Milford, CT; and Gregory Lownds and his wife, Theresa, of Clayton, NC. Her grandchildren: Timothy Heinlein, Christopher Heinlein, Nicholas Lownds, Julia Lownds and Sarah Lownds. Her siblings: Sonia Kieras and her husband, Francis, of Danbury; Ada Culbertson of Clearwater, FL; and Henry Augusiewicz and his wife, Denise, of Danbury, CT. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Ida was predeceased by her son, Kenneth, in 1985.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11am on Tuesday, April, 5, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Friends will be received from 9am-11am on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the funeral home.
