

James, who went by Jim, was born in White Plains, New York on February 18th, 1932. He was the Son of Jacob and Marie Edelmann, who had immigrated from Germany, and the older Brother of Rosemarie, who he was predeceased by. He attended Grade School in Silver Lake, New York before attending High School in White Plains. Jim continued his education, eventually graduating from the Stevens Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
A successful career as a Product Engineer began at The Fafnir Bearing Company in New Britain, Connecticut and led to Jim’s long standing employment at Barden Corporation in Danbury, CT as a Senior Product Engineer. Between his time at Fafnir and Barden, Jim was called to Service by the United States Army during the Korean War, and was stationed in Germany.
In 1962, Jim and his beloved wife Angie, as well as three of their eventual four Children moved from New Britain, Connecticut to Danbury, Connecticut. Jim enjoyed anything involving family, including BBQ’s and get-togethers. Jim devoted his time to Church, serving with the Knights of Columbus, or as an Usher. The Edelmann’s cherished their active social life with their many friends and acquaintances. They could be found doing anything from enjoying a meal out on the town to vacationing locally or abroad.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, Jim is survived by his very large and loving family, including his three Children; Joseph Edelmann, Lisa Schiavone (Edelmann) and Pamela Miller (Edelmann), his 11 Grandchildren and their significant others, and 9 Great Grandchildren. Jim was predeceased by his eldest child, James Frederick Edelmann.
Jim was known for his sarcastic humor, love of animals, and dedication to family and church. Jim was a friend to all with his contagious smile.
A Graveside Service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bethel, CT at 11am on Tuesday May 12th. Due to social distancing guidelines, attendees must remain in their vehicles.
