

James (Jim) Vulcano Sr. of Danbury passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012. Jim was born in Danbury on August 31, 1925 to Mike and Gladys (Horn) Vulcano. Jim graduated from Danbury High School. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Navy. Upon return from his service, Jim graduated from Western Connecticut State Teachers College and from Manhattan College with a Masters Degree in Education and taught in Connecticut and New York State for over 30 years. A passionate golfer, after retiring he enjoyed a second career as a professional golf instructor in Connecticut and Florida.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Florence; daughters Brenda and her husband Al (Farrah) of Danbury, Diane Vulcano of Bridgeport, Mary Vulcano of Woodbury, and his son Jim and his wife Karen of Brookfield. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Douglas Farrah, Emily, Rebecca and Stephen Vulcano, sister-in-laws Helen Vulcano of Ridgefield, Connecticut and Betty Vulcano of West Palm Beach, Florida along with several nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Michael, Kenneth, Eugene and his sister Jane.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Danbury Hospital Dialysis Unit, Danbury Hospital, and the staff at Glen Hill Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jim’s honor to the Danbury Hospital Nelson Gelfman Dialysis Unit, 111 Osborne Street Suite 211, Danbury, CT 06810.
There are no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, at 10:30am, Saint Peter Church, 121 Main Street, Danbury.
