Born on February 19, 1945, Judy was the youngest of two children. Her parents, John and Celina Marrero, owners of the record store La Ciguena, raised Judy and her brother John, Jr. in the Bronx. Judy married Eduardo Garcia in 1964 which was the start of 56 years of marriage. She was predeceased by her husband Eduardo and her son Rich.
Judy is survived by her children, Ed Garcia and his wife Lisa of Westtown, NY and Mike Garcia and his wife Megan of Bethel, CT; her grandchildren, Eddie Garcia and his wife Stephanie, Alex Garcia, Chrissy Murray and her husband Ryan, Jimmy Garcia and his wife Rose, Johnny Garcia and his wife Marissa, Christian Garcia, Nicolas Garcia, Julia Hawthorne and her wife Flannery and Audrey Garcia; her great grandchildren Abbie Garcia and our newest addition Xavier Garcia.
Judy was one of a kind. If her place in heaven is not a given, then there is no hope for the rest of us. She was the most kind, loving, unselfish, unimposing and prayerful person you could ever meet. Those that knew her well, know with absolute certainty, that she was praying for them, and their lives have been better because of it.
In adherence to Judy’s wishes, there will be no public services. However, in lieu of attending services or sending flowers, Judy requested that donations be made to the National Shrine of St. Jude. St. Jude is known as the patron saint of things despaired of, and Judy supported the shrine’s good work and prayers for the last 46 years, through novenas, masses and gifts. Additionally, the family would like to encourage donations to Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT where she received truly amazing care.
