Julie Margaret Choffletti French, age 77, of New Fairfield, CT, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023. Julie was born on June 26, 1946, to the late Eric and Margaret Kaufmann in Niedermarsberg, Germany.
The Kaufmann family moved to Rockaway, New York where Julie graduated from Stella Maris High School. After attending Katherine Gibbs, she worked as a secretary in Manhattan. Julie married the late George J. Choffletti Jr. in 1968 and they lived in Larchmont NY for a few years before settling in “the country”; New Fairfield, CT, in 1972. Over the course of her career, she worked at Meeting House Hill School as a paraprofessional and for over 25 years as a secretary at Danbury Hospital.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Margaret Kaufmann her husband George Choffletti, Jr., and her brother, Fred Kaufmann.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Dighton and her husband Geoffrey; her daughter Caryn Vale and her husband Jeffrey; by her beloved grandchildren: Erik and Kaysie Dighton and Madison and Brady Vale; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Julie loved baking and was known for her trays of Christmas cookies. She always needed to have a pet by her side and her love of animals was strong. Julie was known for being “fabulous” and her red-lipsticked smile always lit up a room.
Julie's family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Hancock Hall who treated Julie with dignity and love in the last weeks of her life.
A visitation for Julie will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill Rd., New Fairfield, CT. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, CT-37, New Fairfield.
