

Linda R. Spera, of Brookfield, died January 20, 2013 Bethel Health Care, after brief but courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born October 8, 1942, in Yonkers, NY a daughter of the late William and Agnes (Van Metter) Clear. Initially a homemaker, once her children were grown, Linda went to WCSU and received her BS in Education. While she loved teaching, she ultimately accepted a position with IBM and during her 20 years there, she studied for and received her MS in Human Resources from Manhattanville College. After her retirement Linda became actively involved with the Senior Center in Brookfield, AARP, various book clubs, St. Joseph’s Church and area food pantries. Linda was always taking care of someone, either by cooking a meal, giving a ride or simply visiting with them. Linda was an animal lover, while her allergies prevented her from having cats and dogs; over the years hers was a home to hamsters, birds and especially her rabbits, Pee-a-boo and Precious.
Linda is survived by her sons Frank, of Shelton and Christopher, his wife Adrienne, her grandchildren and lights of her life Kyle and Paige all of Brookfield. In addition, she survived by her sister Elinor Wassmann of Brookfield, niece Patty Eccelston, her husband Doug and their children, of New Hampshire, her nephew Joe Wassmann of Texas. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and former coworkers.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield, at 10:00 am on Saturday January 26, 2013. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, on Friday January 25, 2013 from 5 to 8 pm. Contributions may be made in her memory to your local food pantry or animal shelter.
