Louis was born January 4, 1926 in Manhattan, the son of the late Louis and Mary (Colangelo)Mancuso. He was raised in the Harlem section of Manhattan on 117th Street, and was a graduate of Samuel Gompers High School. Following high school, Louis enlisted in the US Army, serving for 18 months. Following his discharge, he married his wife Caroline on a snowy January 1, 1949. The lived in Manhattan until moving to the Bronx in 1950 and resided there until 1999, when they moved to New Fairfield to be closer to their family.
Louis was employed as a machinist with Belock Industries of College Point, and later with Applied Devices, Hauppauge, Long Island. He was a parishioner of Saint Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield, and in his spare time enjoyed golf, and both riding and playing the horses.
In addition to his wife of 69 years, Louis is survived by his daughter, Carol A. Sudano and her husband Michael of New Fairfield, two sons: Louis Mancuso III and Deborah of Plantation, FL, and Robert Mancuso and his wife Gail of Lynbrook, NY, one brother: Albert Mancuso of Pine Bush, NY, six grandchildren: Jeanine and her husband Ray, Chris and his wife Nicole, Danielle and her husband Dom, Justin, Jarett, and Tyler, three great grandchildren: Ryan, Lia, and Krista, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday August 29th at Saint Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield. Burial will be in the Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, Putnam Valley, NY.
The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Tuesday August 28th from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
