Born in the Bronx, NY, Lynda was the beloved daughter of the late Clarence “Ted” Hunt and Elsie Behnken. At the age of 9, her family moved to North Salem, NY, eventually settling in Ridgefield, CT, where she attended high school, graduating with the class of 1961.
Lynda pursued her passion for education at Southern Connecticut State University, earning a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees—one in special education and the other in educational administration. She also attained a 6th-year certificate in educational administration, demonstrating her lifelong dedication to learning and leadership.
Her career in education was marked by her commitment to helping others succeed. Lynda served as a special education teacher, department head, and summer and night school supervisor. She concluded her career as the assistant principal of Henry Abbott Technical High School, leaving behind a legacy of care and mentorship.
Lynda’s contributions to her community were numerous. She was instrumental in establishing Danbury’s recycling center, a project that reflected her vision for a better future. She was an active member and past president of the Danbury Junior Women’s Club, as well as a dedicated member of the Candlewood Camera Club, where she honed her love of photography.
In addition to her professional and civic accomplishments, Lynda found joy in gardening, a passion she cultivated over the years. Her love for animals was unwavering, and she cared deeply for her many pets, including dogs, cats, horses, and even a pony.
Lynda is survived by her daughter Lisa Lyn and son Christopher Stuart, his wife Debbie, and granddaughters Haley and Mia who live in Colorado. She is also survived by her brother Richard Hunt, his wife Katherine, and their children Steve, Scott and Lauren, along with several grandchildren.
Lynda’s warmth, dedication, and many talents will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 12 - 4 PM with a memorial service led by Celebrant Donna Katsuranis at 1 PM.
