

Marita and her late husband, Richard Schulz, married in 1957 and lived in the home they built together throughout their married lives. Marita dedicated 32 years to teaching in the Hartford and Danbury public school systems, primarily as a first-grade teacher at King Street Elementary School.
Marita had a lifelong passion for travel and learning about new places. Alongside Richard, she journeyed thousands of miles across the United States and Canada in their camper truck, visiting friends and family, exploring National Parks, and marveling at natural wonders. Their adventures also took them overseas more than 20 times, where they visited numerous destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania.
Born on July 24, 1929, in Danbury, CT, Marita was the eldest of six children of Sylvan and Christine (McStay) Gleissner. She graduated from Danbury High School in 1947, earned her degree from Danbury State Teachers College in 1951, and completed her Master of Science in 1961. A devout member of Saint Peter’s Church and Saint Gregory the Great Church in Danbury, Marita cherished her faith and community.
Marita was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard, who passed away on May 18, 2024. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Adiletta, and her husband, Matthew, of Bolton, Massachusetts; her son, David Schulz, of Berlin, Connecticut; and her seven grandchildren: Ally Schulz, Hannah Schulz, Benjamin Schulz, Matthew Adiletta, Andrew Adiletta, Jack Adiletta, and Kathryn Adiletta. She is also survived by her sister, Christine MacMillan, as well as many treasured nieces, nephews, and their children. Marita was predeceased by her brothers, Sylvan Gleissner, William Gleissner, and Ronald Gleissner, and her sister, Jean McNally.
