

Patricia A. Barrett, age 94, of Danbury, passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2014. Pat was born in Ridgefield on April 4, 1920 to Louis & Agnes (Leary) Barrett. She graduated from Danbury High School and The Merritt Schools, South Norwalk, CT. She was a secretary and office manager with Catholic Family Services in Danbury for 38 years until her retirement in 1984. Pat’s many years of dedicated service were recognized in 1986 with the naming of Barrett House, a mental health patient facility, in her honor.
Pat was a daily communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter Church where she also volunteered as a “Countess”, and worked in the kitchen at weekly bingo. In 2007 Pat and her sister, Kay, were recipients of the Diocese of Bridgeport St. Augustine Service Medal from St. Peter Parish. Pat loved to paint and was a quite accomplished artist.
Besides her parents, Pat was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Kathryn Curran, and her beloved stepmother Grace (Hart) Barrett.
Pat was a second mother and grandmother to her nieces and nephew Patricia (James) Ellsworth of Redding, Thomas (Ellen) Curran of Newtown, Kathleen (Thomas) Fitzsimmons of New Milford and Eileen Curran of Danbury and their families, who survive her.
Pat’s family wishes to thank so many people who made her life comfortable. A very special thanks go to Nqobile Miya, her caregiver and companion whose love and care in recent months was appreciated beyond measure. Thanks also go to the wonderful nurses and staff at Bethel VNA for their years of dedicated service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 31 in St. Peter Church, 104 Main St., Danbury. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury prior to the funeral on December 31 from 9:00-10:00 AM. A private burial will take place at a later date.
