
Phyllis L. Kurjiaka, 92, of Danbury, CT passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Kurjiaka, who passed away in 1991. Born in Mechanicville, NY, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Maria Vaccaro Gagliardi. She attended schools in Mechanicville, NY and moved to Danbury in 1945.
Phyllis was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Danbury, as well as the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge #160, the Polish-American Club in Danbury and the Danbury Elks Lodge #120.
A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Phyllis was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her daughter: Mary Ann Motika of Nashua, NH. Her sons: Joseph Kurjiaka and his wife, Sheila, of Danbury and Leon B. Kurjiaka of Danbury. Her sister: Carmella Bucci of Mechanicville, NY. Her loving 11 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday at 12pm at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
