Rit was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Agnus Oladovich. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1964 and then joined the Navy before going to the police academy where he found his true calling. He started his career as a Police Officer at the Norwalk Police Department and then went on to the Bethel Police Department where he was a Police Officer and then Police Corporal for over 37 years.
Rit was extremely proud of his career as a Police Officer and loved to share all the interesting tales of the trade. He enjoyed taking his "patrols" through Bethel long after his retirement and always had a coffee in hand (and the occasional donut).
Rit had a very special way about him; when his grandchildren were young he would take them for a walk around the block to find butterflies to bring back to "grandma's butterfly bush." He took his beloved German Shepherds to the park every day and would chat with anyone who's ear he could grab.
Rit is survived by his three loving daughters: Wendy, Kim and Kristie; his granddaughter, Lacee, and her husband, John Walsh; and his grandson, Richard Malichio. Along with his wife, Nancy, and his parents, Joseph and Agnus Oladovich, Rit is predeceased by his brothers: Joseph and Dennis Oladovich; and his sisters: Mary Ellen Jones and Jeannette Banks.
Calling hours for Rit will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT, followed by a Celebration of Life with Military Honors to immediately follow.
