Robert "Bear" Calvin Greene Jr., 74, of Danbury, CT, passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2025. Born on August 10, 1950, in Norwalk, CT, Bear was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Bear had a deep love for sports, especially softball. In his younger years, he not only played but also managed men’s softball teams, creating memories and lifelong friendships along the way. One of his proudest moments on the field was winning the Danbury Labor Day Tournament with his closest friends.
A dedicated and skilled truck driver, Bear took great pride in his work at Marcus Dairy, where he was known for his driving expertise. His friendships extended beyond work, as he formed strong bonds at the softball fields and the DAV (Disabled American Veterans club), where he enjoyed camaraderie and shared experiences with many.
Bear was a devoted family man. He was married to Michelle Greene, and together they raised their sons, Jesse and Jacob. He was a proud and loving grandfather, especially cherishing time spent with his granddaughter Emily, cheering her on in gymnastics, wrestling, and softball.
He was a passionate sports fan, always rooting for his favorite teams—Notre Dame Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New York Mets, Knicks and Rangers.
Bear was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia Greene. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Greene; his sons, Jesse Greene (Amy) and Jacob Greene (Katelin); his adored grandchildren, Emily and Benjamin; and many dear friends who will forever remember his warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty.
In accordance with his wishes, Bear will be cremated. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at an Irish Wake to be held at the Disabled American Veterans, 25 Segar St., Danbury, CT on March 2, 2025, from 2PM - 6PM .
Bear's love, laughter, and larger-than-life presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
