Robert was born in the Bronx, NY, son of the late Vito "Willie" and Josephine "Tootsie" Mercadante. He attended Fordham University and received a BA in finance and later an MBA.
Robert became a teacher out of college and while he enjoyed it, he enjoyed numbers more and went into accounting. He became a certified public account and practiced with several of the major firms until retiring in 2018 from PricewaterhouseCoopers. Robert liked to volunteer at church and help others who needed guidance with their taxes.
Robert's father, Vito; mother, Josephine; and sister, Linda, predeceased him.
In addition to his wife of 27 years, survivors include his sons, Matthew and Daniel (Valerie) and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield with the Rev. George O'Neill, Pastor, officiating.
