

Robert T. Stumpf, 85, of Bethel, Connecticut, passed away on January 23, 2017. He was born and raised in City Island, New York on December 23, 1931. He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, New York. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Ruth Stumpf, whom he married on July 14, 1956. Bob was proud of his lifelong work at Norden Systems, a division of United Technologies, especially their contribution to NASA’s shuttle program. He retired in 1994.
He is survived by his children: Susan (Gary) Adkin, Pam (Tom) McCluskey, Wendy (Jeff) Cartin, Kim Stumpf, Cathy (Rob) Grosshart and his foster daughter, Laurel Quinones and family; his grandchildren: Lindsay (Ken) Macdonald, David Adkin, Brittany Cartin, Ryan Cartin, Emma Grosshart, Ruby Grosshart, Susie (Gary) Fernandez and Tom McCluskey, Jr.; Great-grandchildren: Ethan Mayberry-Lewis, Quentin & Nathanael Fernandez and Tommy McCluskey.
Bob had the patience of a saint and genuine kindness for those around him. He was gentle, wise and present when he was with you and had a positive impact on so many lives. He remained a devoted caregiver to his wife, Ruth, throughout her long battle with Alzheimer's. Later when faced with his own struggle with Parkinson’s disease his “Never Give Up” attitude served him well. In the face of adversity, Bob enjoyed life and the good company of family and friends and the staff at Bethel Health Care.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, Viewing hours will be from 4:30 - 8:00 on Friday, January 27, 2017, and the funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, with the burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield.
