Romeo A. Morelli

Romeo A. Morelli, 87, of New Fairfield, Ct, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Danbury Hospital. He was born in the Bronx, N. Y. on September 19, 1927, the ninth child of Aristedes Morelli and Giovannina Palladino Morelli. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Theresa; four brothers: Jack, Stanley, Louis and Harry and four sisters: Gussie, Angie, Lilly and Mary.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters: Joanne Perrault and Frances Carlson of New Fairfield, CT His sons: Anthony Morelli of Monroe, CT and Ronald Morelli of Sherman, CT and 2 daughter-in-laws: Bonnie Davin and Sylvia Morelli. "Poppy" will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Tim, Mike, Nick, Dennis, Matt and Melissa, as well as his great grandchildren: Brian, Mia, Ally, Marissa, Nathan, Shea, Kate and Bob. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Romeo worked as a Fleet Mechanic for Stella D'Oro Biscut Company before moving to New Fairfield in 1955. He then worked as a mechanic at Brewster Lanes at night and did remodeling and home improvements by day. Over a course of time, he started his own business, ROMEO MORELLI PLUMBING AND HEATING. Eventually his sons joined him in partnership. After retiring from field work, he continued in the business by managing the office and talking with customers on the phone.

He also served on the New Fairfield Board of Tax Review for a period of years. Romeo enjoyed bus trips to Mohegan Sun, bird watching, storytelling, and playing the organ, but his greatest pleasure was time spent with his extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at 8:30am directly to St. Edward Church, New Fairfield, CT. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, New Fairfield, CT. Friends will be received on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 from 5pm – 9pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
