Rudy was born in Bronx, NY to Elvira and Giovanni Sorrentino. Moving back to Italy as a young child, Rudy grew up in the village of Lanzara, Italy attending school through University. Returning to the U.S. as an adult, he attended St. John’s University in New York City, and graduated in 1954 as a pharmacist. He married the love of his life Antonina (Nina) on August 7, 1955, in Bronx, N.Y. He was a pharmacist and subsequently a store manager primarily for Genovese Drug Stores, and other stores, for his entire professional career. Rudy was a devout Roman Catholic, was an avid health and nutrition officianato, enjoyed cooking and baking, and above all cherished his family as his greatest achievement.
Rudy is preceded in death by his beloved wife Nina and his brother Ubaldo, his cherished grandson Anthony Domenico, and sisters-in-law Anna and Brigitte. He is survived by his two sons, John Sorrentino (wife Diane) of East Lyme, CT , Rudy Sorrentino (wife Jessie) of Clark, NJ, his daughter Piera Eduardo of New Fairfield, CT, his brother Dominick of Valhalla, NY . He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Joseph Russo, Jason Sorrentino, Krystal Ramos, Dana Russo, Heather Gallo, Nina Russo, David Sorrentino, and great grandchildren: Adam Russo, Sofia Ramos, Lily Ramos, Zoey Mae Gallo, and Violet Gallo.
Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main St. Danbury, CT,on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM at St. Edward the Confessor Church; Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in New Fairfield, CT, followed by a local luncheon in New Fairfield.
