

Serafim "Chico" Furtado 76 of 5 Harbor Ridge Road. Danbury, CT passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side. He was born in the Azores, Portugal in 1941. Serafim came to this country in 1954. He attended schools here in the states.
Serafim worked at the Castro convertible for many years. He then worked for Republic Foil before retiring. He loved this country, and became an American citizen in 1990. Serafim was proud of this accomplishment. Serafim was married to his loving wife Herminia Furtado for 56 years. His many joys in life included his garden, his yard, fig trees, and making his homemade wine.
Serafim leaves behind beloved wife, his daughter Ilda and her husband Grant Palinkas, his daughter Debbie Sousa and Pete Algarin, daughter, Diane and Alex Piech, son Dan and Stacey Furtado and son Serafim Jr and Colleen Furtado. Serafim will also be incredibly missed by his grandchildren, Grant Jr, Jessica, Andrea, Evan, Marissa, Josh, Diane, Anthony, Daniel, Taryn, Alex, Sarah, Robert, Anna, Michael, Caitlin, Zack, John and Chelsea. Also his great grand daughters Mariah and Melody. He will also be missed by his ,loving sisters Margaret, Maria, Delores and Lucy.
Family and friends are encouraged to call to The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street Danbury, CT on Monday May 08, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm for visitation with family. A funeral mass will take place Tuesday, May 09, 2017 at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury, CT at 10:00 am. A burial will immediately follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury, CT.
