Stanley W. Karcheski, 102, of Brookfield, CT passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, July 10, 2018. He was the husband of the late Helen Washenko Karcheski, to whom he was married for 73 years until her death in 2008.
Born in Bridgeport, CT to the late William and Dorothy Wojchieowski Karcheski, he grew up in Newtown, CT. Stanley lived briefly in Geneva, NY before returning to this area, living here for the rest of his life.
In his younger years, Stanley played professional basketball for the Rochester Royals, not the Sacramento Kings. For 50 years, Stanley was a machine operator for Bard-Parker Co. in Danbury.
Stanley loved gardening, to bowl and fish. He especially loved his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While in Geneva, Stanley was a cherry and apple farmer on his 22 acres of land.
Survivors include his son: Donald Karcheski of Brookfield, CT. His daughter: Elaine Tomanio and her husband, Roger, of Brookfield, CT. His grandchildren: Todd Tomanio and his wife, Elyse, of Alexandria, VA; Karen Dreger and her husband, Steven, of Sandy Hook, CT. His great-grandchildren: Caden McLeod, Braelynn Tomanio and Hadley Tomanio. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and wonderful next-door neighbors, the Kincades.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
