Susan “Sue” Scott, age 65, of Danbury, CT, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, February 11. Sue was born on December 11, 1956 to Kenneth “Pop” Holick and the late Margery “Nan” Holick. She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Scott, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage, and four devoted children: Ken Scott (and wife, Alissa Scott), Steve Scott (and wife, Fernanda Scott), Jenny Trainor (and husband, Mitch Trainor), and Tom Scott (and fiancé, Day Henry). Her greatest joy was her eight wonderful grandchildren: Jaden Scott, Dylan Scott, Ava Trainor, Troy Trainor, Danielle Scott, Luke Scott, Alexis Trainor, and Cole Scott. In addition to her father, Sue is survived by her two older sisters, Melinda Kelly and Pamela Turosky.
She forged strong roots in Danbury, having been born at Danbury Hospital, graduating from Danbury High School, and raising her family in the same Danbury home for 40 years, cultivating countless memories and laughs.
Anyone close to Sue knew her as a steadfast and selfless caregiver. She put others first—always—especially children. Her nannying career spanned three decades and included ten children, all of whom formed lasting bonds with Sue. She never considered it work. Relating to children came naturally and easily because she epitomized the phrase “young at heart.” She instinctively knew the key to realizing each kid’s delight and stopped at nothing to make it happen.
As a longtime volunteer of Hat City Youth Sports Danbury Vikings, Sue worked tirelessly to improve kids’ lives through sports opportunities. She treated these young athletes like her own children and helped provide them with experiences that shaped their development and future.
Above all, family ranked first for Sue. Much like her mother, Sue was the hub of information for her family and friends, serving as the go-to resource for all social news. Her regular phone calls and updates with everyone in her circle enabled all family and friends to stay involved in each other’s lives. Her glue formed an unbreakable family bond.
Sue was irreplaceable. Her loved ones will miss not only her strength as the family matriarch but also the little things, from her unexpected one-liners to her unconventional outlook on life. She left us a lifetime of memories that will continue to make us smile.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 17 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Green Funeral Home in Danbury, CT. The services will be followed by a family-only private burial service the next day.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Danbury Youth Wrestling Association. Donations can be sent to DYWA, P.O. Box 2215, Danbury, CT 06814.
