

Theresa J. Benedict born on August 01, 1925, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 06, 2017 with her family by her side. Theresa was raised by her parents Emory and Veronica Vassak on the Brady Farm in Brewster, New York. Theresa was one of thirteen siblings that she loved dearly. She went on to graduate from Brewster High School in 1943. During WWII Theresa performed factory work inspecting various types of grenade launchers for the war effort. Theresa met her devoted husband while picking blueberries with family and friends. Theresa and her sister Veronica went cross country by train in 1945 to San Francisco to be with her future husband who was stationed with the Navy in California. Theresa and Harry were happily married for 47 years and raised 4 loving children. Theresa was a longtime parishioner and active member of St. Edwards, volunteering her time in the Ladies Guild, St. Matthews Guild and the sewing group. In addition, as a couple, Theresa and Harry enjoyed dancing with The Danbury Hatters Square Dancing Group.
Theresa was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harry and twelve siblings. She is also predeceased by her loving daughter Linda Jean. She is survived by, her sister Veronica Pitkat, her children Richard Benedict and his wife Linda, Barbara Jean and her husband Bob Pinckney, Gary Benedict, JoAnn and her husband Doug Schroeder. Most importantly she leaves behind; her grandchildren, Robin, Gail, Richard II, Christopher, Jason, Michael, Jennifer, Kyle, Laura, Zachary, Abby and Hannah along with her great grandchildren Meghan, Sarah, Ashley, Augie, Rachel and Renee. Never forgotten a special thank you goes to her niece Virginia Turner and Family member Maryann Benedict for not just their care but for their devoted love to Theresa.
Family and friends are encouraged to call to the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street Danbury, CT on Friday June 09, 2017 for visitation from 8:00 to 9:15 am. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 9, 2017 at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield, CT at 10:00 am. Burial will take place immediately following mass at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family asks that all donations be made to The Regional Hospice of Danbury, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06811 along with St. Edward the Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill Road New Fairfield, CT 06812.
