Walter was born March 17, 1936 in Bronx, New York to the late Walter W. Fisher Sr. and Elsie Fisher. As a young boy the family resided in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Walter attended New Brunswick High School. After high school, he moved to Rhode Island where he studied and graduated in 1958 summa cum laude from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. Walter also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for four years in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
While in college he met the love of his life, Judith A. Parker, from Wollaston, Massachusetts. He and Judith married in February of 1960, and soon had four loving children. Walter was offered a job at Metlife in New York City and eventually moved to Queens, New York. In the late 1960s, he took a job at Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, New York, and moved his family to Highland Mills. In 1974 the family relocated to Candlewood Shores in Brookfield, Connecticut, where they shared many years of love, adventure and happiness.
Walter was a production manager for Davis & Geck, which he enjoyed for thirty-five years. After retirement, Walter still remained active by doing volunteer work at his home away from home, The Congregational Church of Brookfield. Being an avid reader, he always enjoyed being around books and volunteered at the Brookfield Library. After his loving wife Judith passed in 2016, he also volunteered at Maplewood, an Alzheimer’s facility that Judith had resided in for a few months.
He and Judith shared a love of travelling. They visited England many times, as well as France, Scotland, and Hawaii. They especially loved their twenty-five-year time share in Bermuda. The two also enjoyed visiting New York City for Broadway shows, museums, and the opera.
Walter was a loving, caring, charming, gentle and giving man. He would help anyone at any time, with a smile on his face no matter what. Walter was loved as much as he loved and will be dearly missed.
