William M. Manton

Bill was born in Danbury, CT to William J. Manton and Pauline Melleky Manton on 7/29/1939. He went to school in Danbury and spent the majority of his life residing in Brookfield, CT. Bill was well-known in his community for his big smile, endless enthusiasm, and selfless service to several community organizations and volunteer endeavors throughout the years. He was a longstanding parishioner at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield and took great pride in his many years of service as a church usher. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Brookfield. He was especially fond of his involvement with the HDHM Ministry, most particularly his annual post as HDHM’s traveling Santa Claus to nursing homes across the community. Bill enjoyed the theater, boat trips on the Long Island Sound, and his extensive music collection. He was happiest around people and was a friend to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by the many family and friends who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.

He is preceded in death by his father William, his mother Pauline, his stepmother Winifred M. Manton, and his stepbrother/best friend, John Quattrocchi, as well as several grandparents, aunts, and uncles, all of whom he cherished and spoke of dearly.

Bill is survived by his sister Mary Jane Connor of Southbury, stepsister Patricia Reiss of Danbury, nieces Deborah Kavanaugh of Southbury, Annemarie Balogh of Bronx, NY, and Claire Rentz of Bethel, nephew Robert Balogh of Pittsfield, MA, and grand-nephews Jake Balogh of Pittsfield, MA, Alex Miloscia of Bethel, and Michael Rentz of Bethel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, 10/30/21 at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield with Rev. George O’Neill officiating. Burial will be private.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the amazing and caring staff of Bethel Healthcare, as well as Regional Hospice for their outpour of love and support to Bill throughout the past year.
