Zoran Milovic

Zoran Milovic, 60, of New Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family he loved beyond measure, on July 11, 2025 after a long battle with glioblastoma, a highly aggressive brain cancer.

To know Zoran was to feel seen, supported and protected. With a quick mind and even quicker laugh, he believed in the power and love of community, and he spent decades building friendships, mentoring others, and making sure that every person around him was treated like family. Zoran was a man who listened more than he spoke, but when he did speak, his words mattered, and he made sure that his actions mattered even more.

Zoran was born in Kraljevo, Serbia, to Milomir and Stana Milovic and had an older brother, Dragan Milovic. As a child, he was a daredevil jumping off roofs and tall structures, wanting to learn how to fly and become “Superman" so he could always protect his loved ones.

Zoran immigrated to the United States with his parents at the age of nine and grew up in Brooklyn and Queens. He practiced Tae Kwon Do for many years, starting in high school, and rose to the level of 5th Dan Black Belt. He graduated from The Cooper Union with a degree in electrical engineering and spent over four decades building a reputable career that he took much pride in – not because of the many titles he earned, but because of the people he worked with. Zoran also served as a highly respected Board member of the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in NYC for numerous years.

Through Tae Kwon Do, Zoran met his future wife, Dorothy, who was one of his students. During a beautiful trip together to Serbia/Montenegro a few years later, Zoran proposed, and a year later they were married. While living on Long Island, NY, they welcomed their three children (Stefanie, Jonathan and Daniel) who enjoyed playing at Jones Beach and putting on at-home theatrical performances, a favorite being Peter Pan re-enactments where he would “walk the plank” with Stefanie. In 2004, they established their forever home in New Fairfield, CT. Here, Zoran became very active in soccer, both as a player and, more importantly, a beloved coach to many children in our town, including of course his two sons. In the local Lubus Summer Recreational Soccer League, he thoroughly enjoyed playing with his adult friends, previously-coached kids, and his own three children, while his wife cheered on everyone from the sidelines.

Zoran is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dorothy, of New Fairfield, CT; his three children, Stefanie (Rockville, MD), Jonathan (Groton, CT), and Daniel (Baltimore, MD), as well as his niece, Nevena, and nephew, Dusan, in Serbia. He also leaves behind a large community of friends who were far more like family to him. It was this combined love and support that helped him battle this cancer for such a long, difficult 18 months.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 1pm to 4pm at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. His ashes will be present, and we’ll gather to share stories, memories, and love, beginning with our immediate family’s words at 1:30 pm. All who knew and loved him are welcome.
