Alan George Hutchinson

Alan George Hutchinson, 83 of Dartmouth Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 26, 2013. Born in Dartmouth, he was the son of George Edmund (Ted) Hutchinson and Laura Dauphinee (Morash).

Alan retired from his 35 year career with Imperial Oil in 1986, in his younger years he rowed and paddled for Mic Mac AAC where he was a life member. He bowled in the Dartmouth City League and was usually up for a game of golf, an avid fly fisherman he tied his own flies. A member of the Owl’s Club, curled at the Dartmouth Curling Club and a member of the Sundowners, always ready to bring out his fiddle and mouth organ when there was an occasion.

Survived by his loving wife Shirley Anne (Williams), Daughters Sandra Coffill, Carol Johnston (Myles), Debbie Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Lois McSweeney (Sean); sisters Marjorie Hare and Barbara MacKenzie; Sister in Law Barbara Ellis; Grandchildren Scott (Rebecca), Adam, Chad, Tamara, Nicole, Laura, Mariah and Judah; Great Grandchildren, Layla, Zoe and Joshua; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, George Edmund (Ted) Hutchinson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday Dec 29, 2013 in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home , 217 Portland Street from 2:00pm to 5:00pm

Funeral Service will be held on Monday Dec 30, 2013 at 2:00pm in Christ Church, Ochterloney Street, Dartmouth, Rev. Stephen Laskey Officiating. Interment for the family will follow the service in Christ Church Cemetery. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Corp. of Christ Church Food Bank. The family would like to thank the VON and Palliative Care staff for their kind and generous support
