

Passed peacefully at the Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by his loving family on March 11, 2023.
Born and raised in London, ON, Al joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1968 and was enlisted until 1975. After his time with the Navy he became a member of the Canadian Coast Guard from 1978-1991. Although he was born in Ontario, Al spent 42 years living in Nova Scotia which always considered his ‘home”. Once leaving the Coast Guard, Al became a truck driver and worked for Hodgeson Trucking up until his retirement where he then move to Newfoundland for the next 8 years. He just recently moved back to Nova Scotia in which he affectionately referred to it as “God’s Country”. His heart was back home.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Beverley; step-children, Tracey (Eric), Jaime (J.F), Steven (Isabelle); his precious grandchildren that gave him so much joy, Emily, Jack, Abby, Tom, Patrick, Daniel and Jonathan. He will also be missed by his brothers, Ron (Betty), Bill (Jean – deceased) and sister Lynn (Ken) along with his many nieces and nephews and his longtime friend, Ronnie Smith (Joyce).
A memorial service will be held for Allen in Ontario at a later date.
