Barbara “Joan” Winchester of Dartmouth, NS passed away on May 17, 2025 at Twin Oaks Hospital. Born in Chester, NS she was the daughter of the late Roy H. and Barbara F. (Mills) Hartling and wife of the late Richard “Dick” Winchester.
Joan loved to play bridge, bowling, curling and darts. Her childhood years were spent in Halifax, Chester and Spanish Ship Bay, Nova Scotia. She worked at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax for a period of time before moving around Canada with her family and settling in Pinawa, Manitoba in 1972. She worked at Atomic Energy of Canada in Pinawa, MB before retiring and moving to Cornwallis Park, NS.
She is survived by her son, Paul Winchester of Winnipeg, MB; daughter, Carman (Kevin) Stevens of Musquodoboit Harbour, NS; granddaughters, Amanda and Jennifer and great-granddaughter, Blaze Sabzali. Along with her husband Joan was also predeceased by her brothers, James “Jim”, Roy and Paul Hartling.
Joan loved her family, pets and always had at least one dog and sometimes a cat.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a local animal shelter.
