

It is with great sadness that the family of Brendan George Daly (Dan) 80, of Dartmouth announce his peaceful passing at home on May 22, 2013. He was born on October 4, 1932 in Montreal, son of the late Frank and Alice (Queripel) Daly. Brendan left Montreal at the age of 18 to join the Royal Canadian Navy, serving for 26 years, as a submariner he rose to Chief Petty Officer 1st Class. He then joined the Department of National Defence Naval Engineering Unit (NAD) retiring in 1995. Brendan was a daily communicant at St. Clements Church and is a Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8831. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten. He is survived by his wife Rosemary, sister Pat Difiore (Robert), Los Angeles, daughters Brenda MacLeod (Rob), Quispamsis, Shannon Welsh (Darren), Dartmouth, stepsons Eamonn McKee (Jacinta), Brendan McKee (Louise), and Paul McKee (Fiona), Ireland; grandchildren Kyle, Michael, Erin and Brendan, Canada, Eion, Emma, Olivia, Sean, Cara, Conor and Eva, Ireland. He was predeceased by his first wife Phyllis (Crampsie) Daly, along with his brothers Frank and Emmett. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 24, at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will take place 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25 in St. Clements Roman Catholic Church, Father Gilbert Bertrand OMI officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society.
