

Bayley (Hickey), Catherine – 87, Dartmouth/Blackpoint, with heavy hearts the family of Catherine “Kay” Mary Bayley (Hickey) announce her peaceful passing on December 8, 2010. and was. Born in St. John’s Newfoundland on March 1, 1923, Mom was the daughter of the late John and Mary Hickey (Kerrivan). She was the last surviving member of her immediate family; she was predeceased by nine brothers and one sister. Mom was also predeceased by the love of her life, husband, Harold Bayley “Bud” and by her sons, Harold “Howie” and Warren in infancy. Mom is survived by her daughters, Mona Kelly (Ron), Lower Sackville and Elaine Fiander (Fred), Hinton AB. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Peter (Christie), John, (Jeannine), Jennifer (Stephen), Greg (Alexis), Suzanne (Malcolm), Freddie (Kristy) and seven great grandchildren, Kayan, Abby, Skylar,Kyra, Adison, Kate and Jaden. Kay will be missed by many wonderful friends and loving family members who enjoyed her great humour and love of her family. We would like to express special thanks to the wonderful staff and care workers at Maplestone Enhanced Care. Their compassion and love of mom during her last days will always be appreciated and never forgotten. Also special thanks to Father James Mallon for his kind words and prayers for our mother during her final hours. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth. A private funeral mass for Kay will take place on Monday, December 13h, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, Lower Sackville with interment to follow at Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville.
