Constance "Connie" G. McKenna

MCKENNA, Constance (Connie) Gloria - Age 88, born October 9, 1928 in Dartmouth she was the daughter of the late Beatrice and Claude McKenna. Our dear Aunt and sister passed away peacefully at the Infirmary Site QE II early in the morning on April 6, 2017. She is survived by her only living sibling, Dorothy Goodall, and many close nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters; Rose, Daisy, Marie and brothers; Bruce, Jack and Dint. Connie grew up in Dartmouth and enjoyed going to dances and sports with her large close family. Connie worked almost 41years at Maritime Tel and Tel in progressive roles from operator to equipment forecaster until her retirement, with a short stint in between at Bank of Montreal in Montreal. She was a career girl, moving in with close friends in Halifax and travelling to England, Israel, Italy, Turkey and Barbados. After living at Young Street in Halifax for 48 years she moved to Northwood in 2011 and made many new friends. She was very spirited, standing her ground for her beliefs, and also very generous to many charities. She stayed current with the news and had a natural curiosity. She enjoyed theater and dining out friends and family and driving around NS exploring her family’s roots. Connie was our family’s photographic and family history recorder. She loved to entertain showing pictures of her recent adventures or home movies and photos. Her sister Dorothy will miss their nightly calls, checking up on each other and catching up with the latest news. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews that she cheered on throughout the years. Visitation will take place at 1 – 4pm on Tuesday, April 11, in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will take place at 2 pm on Wednesday April 12, 2017 in St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 26 Courtney Road, Dartmouth. Burial will take place in Milton at a later date.
