I just found out about Dave's passing after all these years. I'm deeply saddened by this news. Dave and I were very close friends back in the day. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends, even though it's belated.

Just learned  of David's passing and find it hard to believe. We met in Truro when he worked at CKCL and I managed the Twin Cinemas there. As a former DJ myself, we slipped into an easy friendship. In time our individual careers took us in different directions and to different towns. I regret to say we lost touch with each other.
The thing I will remember most about David is his laugh. He loved a joke and laughed with everything he had. A joyful person to be around. He did tell me he enjoyed his new career as a Funeral Director. Anything he did, he did with gusto.

Guess I have been out of the loop. I just heard today about Dave. I am shocked and stunned. Dave was a truly unique character with that sharp, dry wit. I always enjoyed chatting with him, and I will miss him. All the best my friend. My thoughts are with you.

To the Innes family, So sorry to hear of the sudden passing of David. I had the pleasure of knowing David for a number of years when we worked together at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home and we became friends.  He took great pride in his profession and was very dedicated and talented. So very sorry to hear of Dave's sudden passing. I did the Funeral Service Education Program with him many years ago and remember him to be kind, funny and an all around nice person. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, close friends and co-workers.

I am part of the first half of Dave's life. We worked together in Truro until around 2000. I can safely say that our working relationship was as good as our social life.
Dave brought a whole new smile to Truro radio by introducing new characters which included Rodney, the Radio Rooster. His "morning wake-up' was totally annoying. However, he was also loved by our audience. Dave also had the ability to "sell" a joke. For example, around the time when the Olympic Lotteries appeared on Sunday Night TV, Dave managed to convince our growing audience of his building excitement while he waited for the Moncton lottery office to open. That, of course, was when he would claim the largest lottery prize in Canadian history. It was only several hours later when Dave revealed that he was parked outside the radio station, when he would wish his audience (quite huge by this time) a HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY. That's the type of old-time fun that made Dave a pleasure to  work with. After a couple of years, Dave asked me "Is your father, Ralph Guy?" As I answered "yes", my curiousty grew. It was then that he thought our Dad's might know each other. Joe, on a Saturday in Truro, when Joe was paying a visit, my Dad and I dropped by. Thanks Dave Inness for reuniting two friends who had not seen each other since they spent an extended period time together in Nova Scotia's famous Sanatorium which where is where you spent time waiting for "the end". They cheered each other then and helped to keep each other alive.  

It was a sad day in the 1970s when Dave knocked on my office door,and I knew what was coming. Dave's "fun" was over. I had seen it developing over the preceding weeks. I don't know what makes a perfect undertaker; but I feel the name "Inness" is in there somewhere. I miss the weekend chats with Dave and his family, who mourn him today. I especially miss times shared with big brother Chuck; or is it little brother Chuck.Either way, he's "big brother" now. He's got a hard act to follow.

Dear Sherry and all the family:  David was a kind hearted care-giver who so freely gave of himself in his noble profession of Funeral Service. There were so many selfless acts of sincere kindness accorded to the many countless bereaved families he so passionately and so humbly served over the years. As a Licensed Embalmer and Funeral Director David took great pride in his specialized work and always accorded comfort from the heart to all in time need.  He touched so many lives throughout his career and was an inspiration to all who truly new him.  His awesome great sense of humour, boisterous roaring laugh and unique deep voice will not be soon forgotten.   
David and I attended Todd van Beck's Management Training for a full week in the early 90's in Covington, Kentucky-Cinncinati, Ohio.  It was there I got to know David.  We always viewed and held each other with the upmost respect and esteem and thoroughly enjoyed the good light-hearted camaraderie, whenever and wherever we met.  
A few days before his passing, David and I spent a good hour or more talking about the wonderful gift of life, what it meant, what was important and what was not, and the true depth of its meaning.  We both concluded, bottom line, that we were all placed here to help each other through this amazing journey called, 'the gift of life.'
Before i left, David expressed how much he really enjoyed our in-depth conversation, as did I.  It was the first time in 25 years I've known him, that David actually reached out, shook my hand and said,"I have enjoyed this so much, and I look forward to the next time we meet again."   I was so deeply moved and so dearly blessed to have had that opportunity and that shared-time together on the Friday just before his passing.    "David, God love you, may your gentle soul rest in peace, and yes, we will meet again buddy!"

I was stunned and saddened to see Dave's obituary. He was a very fine guy and I always enjoyed his company any and every time we met.

I am completely heartbroken to hear this sad news. David was a wonderful man and a great friend. I will never forget his wit, friendship and basic decency. I will miss him.

I worked with Dave at CKCL in Truro many years ago. He also emceed our wedding 26 years ago and he truly made the wedding fun. He was a great friend to my Dad and I after my Mom passed away. He was a very giving person and when he decided to become a Funeral Director we all knew he would be a very good one. People were just naturally drawn to him. Thank you for the memories Dave. Farewell my old friend-from Lorne Breckon

I met Dave at the NSPE in 1976.  I asked him to play a Ronnie Milsap tune.  I remember he helped me with the spelling of Milsap..  Later on he was a neighbour who lived a couple of streets over from me.  We had met on occasion while out walking.  Later on I heard he became a funeral director.  Fine individual
