

Born at Head Chezzetcook January 14th, 1933, he was a son of the late Alexander and Dorothy (Bonn) Parker.
He served as Vice-Chairman and then Chairman of the Board of the Port of Halifax and Chairman and Chief Advisor of the Maritime Regional Advisory Council under the Federal Ministry of Transport. He was President of Allied Construction Ltd. and D.A. Parker Contracting Ltd. He served with Nova Scotia Department of Public Works as a Building Inspector and later was Chairman of the Nova Scotia Housing Commission.
Active in the community he was a Charter Member of the Dartmouth YMCA Wiseman Club. He was Member of the Dartmouth Lakes Advisory Board, Member of Banook and Senobe Aquatic Clubs and a Life Member and Executive Council Member of the Mic-Mac Amateur Aquatic Club. Life Member of the RAOB Lodge Dartmouth, a Member of the Owl's Club, a Member of the Dartmouth Senior Citizens Service Center Campaign Committee and a Volunteer for the NS Heart Foundation.
In his youth he played in the Eastern Shore Softball League playing center field with the Chezzetcook Aces. He enjoyed sailing his vessel the "Come By Chance" around NS and the "Largo Bay" in the Caribbean & enjoyed a good game of golf.
He was a dedicated Member of the Conservative Party of Canada and worked diligently both Federally and Provincially. He was Past-President of the Dartmouth South Progressive Conservative Party Association, Regional Vice-President of the Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative Party and a Member of the "500 Club" of the Conservative Party. He was Campaign Chairman for numerous Federal and Provincial election campaigns for Mike Forrestall and Roland Thornhill.
He and his wife Mauritius celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on February 15th. They enjoyed a wide circle of friends and traveled extensively.
He is survived by his wife Mauritius(Dooks), Son Dwight, Dartmouth, Grandson Craig (Jen Cox) and Great Grandaughter Alexis Parker, Gaetz Brook. Brothers Paul (Judy) Gaetz Brook, Garry (Porter's Lake), nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother Kendall.
Funeral service 2 pm Thursday, March 5th at Christ Church Ochterloney Street Dartmouth with reception to follow at Mic Mac Aquatic Club Prince Albert Road Dartmouth. Interment in Saint Barnabas Cemetery, Head Chezzetcook. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory to Twin Oaks Hospital or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. Our deepest thanks to the nurses and Dr. Lisa Bonang at Twin Oaks Hospital for their wonderful care given to Don and his family.
