Doris Gladys Florence MacFarlane

It is with profound sadness that we announce that Doris MacFarlane passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025 at the age of 80. Doris was born on September 19, 1944 in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Calvin and Doris (Sym) Sliter.

Doris was a dedicated wife to Carl, her husband, of 52 years. Doris leaves behind her son Chris, brother Jerry, brother-in-Law Mel ( Sandra) Norton, brother-in-law Don MacKinnon (Marilyn) , several nieces and nephews and close friends.

She was predeceased by her parents (Calvin and Doris), sister-in-laws Pearl MacKinnon, and Dora Chapman.

Doris worked at a young age; first at the Victoria General Hospital before becoming the office manager for Dr. Mark Fung. She spent 35 years working with him before retiring. During those years she met many people, and made some lifelong friendships.

Upon her retirement she became an avid reader. She also enjoyed knitting, and rug-hooking, spending hours on little projects.

Doris's kindness, generosity and unwavering love for her family and friends will not be forgotten.

The family would like to thank Dartmouth General Hospital Palliative Care Team (5 West) for their care and compassion given to Doris in her final few days.

Cremation has been entrusted to A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth, NS. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am, Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Hillside Wesleyan Church, 80 Chameau Crescent, Cole Harbour. There will be a reception to follow. Internment will take place after the reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Cancer Society.
