Doris Madeline MacLean

MacLean, Doris Madeline, of Dartmouth, passed away July 7, 2013 peacefully at home in her 86th year. Born in Centerville, NS she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Barnaby) Cavanagh. Doris worked in retail in Kentville and Dartmouth. She lived her life her way, she was a strong and independent spirit. She was determined and maintained her independence in her own home till the end.

She is survived by her daughters, Karyn (Terry) Thomas, Cheryl (Jerry) Goulding, and Lora Winters; a sister Jean Greene and brother Raymond Cavanagh; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband, Wilson MacLean; brother, George Cavanagh; and brother-in-law, Vincent Greene.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday July 12 in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, NS. A graveside service will be held 11am Saturday July 13 in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.

The family gratefully acknowledges Dr. Harry Adams, Northwood Care staff and supervisors, the VON nurses, friends and neighbours for their care and support. A very special thank you to Patricia Jerrett who has been a cherished support to our mother. We will miss you Mom.
