

Currie, Elsie Eunice (Cole)-90, of Dartmouth passed away on Saturday October 6, 2012 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in 1922 she was a daughter of the late Dallis and Hattie (Boutilier) Cole. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Elsie graduated from Dartmouth High School and Miss. Murphy’s Business College. She was employed by Sun Life Assurance Company until her marriage in 1946. She later worked for the Red Cross Society. Elsie enjoyed travelling, bridge, tennis, golf and curling, and was a former member of St. George’s Tennis Club, her passing ended a 59 year membership to Brightwood Golf Club where she had been a Senior Ladies Champion in 1975. She enjoyed her trips to golf tournaments and curling bonspiels with her friends and team mates. Elsie also travelled with her husband Don on many business trips and enjoyed their many winters spent in Florida.
She is survived and will be sadly missed by her husband of 66 years, Donald; cousin, Joyce (Rourke) Dobson, Kingston, ON and New Glasgow; brother-in-law, Ivan C. Currie, Dartmouth and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Simpson, New Glasgow, NS. Elsie will be sadly missed by close friend of many years, Audrey DeMone, Dartmouth; and also her many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place under the care of A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, NS. A memorial service will take place on Thursday October 11, 2012 at 1pm in Christ Church, Ochterloney Street, Dartmouth. A reception will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Dartmouth General Hospital or a charity of choice.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Drs. Verge, Chun, R. Reardon and Moriarty for their care and compassion during Elsie’s long illness. We also sincerely thank the staff of the 4th floor at the Dartmouth General for their gentleness and kindness during Elsie’s illness.
