

Bannerman, (Bishop) Eunice Kathleen – of Dartmouth passed away in the Adelaide Respite Inn after a long struggle with Alzheimers. Born in Semens, Sask. She was the only daughter of the late Lewis L. and Nellie (Illsley) Bishop. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. At an early age Eunice was blessed with a talented passion for music. Her other passion was her family. Eunice loved her children and grandchildren. She always found time to listen and help guide them in the Christian way of life. Family values and morals were stressed as the keystones for living. For Eunice criticism was an unknown word. After completing High School in Berwick, she graduated from Acadia with a L.R.SM and a B. Mus majoring in piano and organ. Graduate studies at the Royal Conservatory of music, Toronto, prepared her for her first job as organist and choir director at the St. Andrews United Church in Chatham, NB. Other churches included St. Paul and St. Stephen United Church, Kentville, St. James United and Grace United in Dartmouth. She retired from Grace United after many years of service. Eunice`s interest in music is reflected in the following organizations: Accompanist, Dartmouth Choral Society, 25 years a member of the Aeolian Singers, 25 years a member of the N.S. Choral Society, supervisor of music Kentville Schools. Music director of several summer camps - C.G.I.T, home and school, Church camps, Berwick camp. Eunice always found time in supporting as an executive member of the N.S. registered music teachers association. The Dartmouth Branch C.F.U.W. University Women, the Royal College of Organists. Halifax Music Festival, American Choral Directors Association and the Dartmouth Music Teachers Association. Eunice is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Alex, son Jim (Heather) grandson Rick (Kerstin) of Ridgeway, ON; daughter Joy Ann (Charles) Granger, grandchildren Philippe and Laura of Maple Bay, BC; son David and grandchildren Ryan (Nicole), Corey and Joy, along with great grandson Max of Annapolis Valley, NS; son Bill (Brenda) grandchildren Michael and Chris of The Woodlands, Texas. She was predeceased by her older brother Dr. Charles J. Bishop of Ottawa, ON. Funeral service will be held 2pm Sunday November 23, 2014 in Grace United Church, 70 King St. Dartmouth. Rev. Krista Anderson officiating, reception to follow. Burial will take place in Kenzieville Cemetery at a later date.
