Age 78, of Dartmouth. It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Evelyn Myrtle Barkhouse in Oakwood Terrace on Thursday, March 28, 2019. Born October 4, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Myrtle and William Barkhouse. She was a long-term employee of Acadian Seaplants until her retirement in 2006. Evelyn was very active before her illness; she loved to travel, go camping, and salmon fishing. She was a long-time member of Christ Church in Dartmouth. She is survived by sister, Shirley Emberly; brother, William; Goddaughter and niece, Karen Emberly (and her daughter Amanda); Goddaughter, Darlene Sobey; nieces and nephews, and long-time friend Linda Judge. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Earl and Edward. Her Greyhound Bree had the best dog’s life ever for more than ten years after her “retirement”. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will occur Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 pm in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. A memorial service will take place Monday, April 1, 2019, at 11:00 am in Christ Church, 61 Dundas Street, Dartmouth.
