
Casas, Frank Joseph, CWO1,E.R.A, R.C.N Ret’d,. in his 89th year, of Dartmouth, NS passed away in peace on Feb. 7, 2013 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth. Honoring Dad’s wishes cremation has taken place, no visitation or services. Ashes will be released by the family in ceremony at sea at a later date. Our Dad joined and served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 25 years: thereafter worked at the HMC Halifax Dockyard for 17 years, retired in 1988. Frank is survived by Jeanne, wife of 64 years. Beloved father of Sandra (Hans), Christine, Carmen, and Ramon (Debbie). Loved & respected by grandchildren Adam, Martin and Julia Grund, Emily & Nathaniel Loewen, Josh & Jenna Casas as well as his great grandchildren Alex & Jonah Grund, Thomas & Annie Russell; his deeply loved sisters, Flora (Robert) Alemany, Lucy (Joe) Pilon, and Mary (Jack) Jamieson all of Sudbury, Ontario; and many nieces & nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Dionisio(Diez) and Maria (Majon Ballestero) Casas who immigrated to Canada in 1922, originally of Zamora, Spain; siblings Andrew, Fabian, Isabel, Carmen, Alberto and Petra (in her infancy). Donations in Frank’s honor can be made to the donor’s choice. We wish to thank the staff of 3 and 4 West for their compassion. Also our sincere thanks to Angela McFadden R.N. and Rose Scott-Lincourt M.S.W R.S.W for helping us children make this final journey with our Dad. He will be remembered as a respected, quiet, hard-working man. He was always there to help and support his family.
