

Ford, Frederick Henry-87, of Dartmouth passed away on December 1, 2011 surrounded by his family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Stewart and Helen (Chipman) Ford. Fred was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the Cape Breton Highlanders. After the war he had a 45 year career as a building contractor in Halifax. Fred was a member of the Mayflower Curling Club for 50 years and an active member of the former J. Wesley Smith Memorial United Church, serving on many committees. In the latter years he was a member of Port Wallis United Church. Fred loved to spend time with his family and took great pride in his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Selena (Boutilier); son, Clem (Peggy) of Hammonds Plains; daughters, Selena Carmichael and Donella (Jeffrey) Forbes both of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Stewart and Vanessa Forbes; sisters, Dorothy Reynolds, Ontario and June Glowa, British Columbia. He was predeceased by sisters, Pearl Beanlands, Hilda Shipley, Frances Ford and Helen Jollimore; brothers, Edward, Gordon and Ronald. Memorial service will be held 11:00am Monday, December 5 at Port Wallis United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
